Dashboard: Widgets overview

Once a widget is added and configured, it appears as a card inside the dashboard. This card is the final, visible representation of the widget — showing either live data (Data Widget) or static/manual content (Text Widget). Each widget card has its own options for interaction and management.

  • Display: Shows metrics, charts, KPIs, and comparisons (e.g., vs. previous period/year) for the selected dashboard date range.
  • Notes:
    • Includes a Details option in the header.
    • Clicking Details flips the widget card and shows configuration info (account, property, dimensions, metrics, filters, calculated metrics).
    • If more than one metric is selected, an additional row appears with a “See all changes” link; clicking it flips the card to show comparisons for all metrics.
  • Display: Shows static text, uploaded images/CSVs, or historic notes.
  • Notes: Same card options as data widgets, but no Details tab.

Every widget card includes a header with quick actions:

  • Move handle — positioned before the widget title on the left side; allows dragging the widget to reposition it in the dashboard grid.
  • Edit — reopen configuration to change title, size, format, filters, or content.
  • Details — available only on Data Widgets. Clicking flips the card to show backend configuration: account, property, dimensions, metrics, filters, calculated metrics, plus a reload option.
  • Copy — duplicate the widget inside the dashboard.
  • Resize — quick resize control. Changes widget size (e.g., 1x1 → 2x1 → 3x2) and saves the new layout permanently.
  • Delete — remove the widget from the dashboard.

Inside the Details view of a Data Widget, there is a Reload Widget button:

  • Function: Purges the widget’s cache and fetches fresh data from the integration.
  • Limit: Restricted to 10 reloads per day total across the dashboard.
  • Use Case: Ensures data is up-to-date if cache is stale or compromised.
  • Widget cards are the final presentation layer — they combine configuration (filters, calculated metrics, text input) with format (Regular, Centered, Auto Height).
  • Both Data and Text Widgets share the same card-level options (edit, copy, expand, delete), but only Data Widgets have Details.
  • Details flips the card to show underlying configuration and reload controls.
  • Reload Widget clears cache and fetches new data, but is limited to 10/day.
  • Resize is a saved resize control, not a temporary zoom.
  • Move handle ensures widgets can be freely rearranged to optimize dashboard structure.
  • If multiple metrics are selected, Data Widgets gain an extra row with a “See all changes” link; clicking it flips the card to show comparisons for all metrics.
  • Layout and visibility depend on widget size, format, and dashboard date range (for Historic text widgets).
